Use this checklist when a workflow did not do what you expected. Start in Automation > Run Log and find the row for your trigger.
By status
| You see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No row at all | The event never fired | Confirm the action really happens in the app; for timed events check Scheduled Jobs |
| No Match | No active workflow for that trigger | Check the workflow is Active (not Paused) and uses exactly that trigger |
| Invalid Trigger | Trigger key not registered | Click Sync Triggers on the Triggers page; for custom entities check the class.<entity>.<event> spelling |
| Conditions Not Met | Conditions evaluated false | Open the row, compare the Trigger Payload with your conditions; check AND vs OR and exact values |
| Partial Failure / Failed | One or all actions errored | Open the row, read the error and Action Results for the failed action |
Steps
- Open the row in the Run Log and read the Error and the Action Results.
- Fix the action configuration (recipient, URL, template, required fields) in Edit.
- Trigger the event again and confirm a Success row.
Common action problems
- Call Webhook: wrong URL or an endpoint that rejects the signed request; retries are automatic.
- Send Email: missing recipient, or the organization's SMTP settings are not configured.
- Update Triggering Record: only works with class triggers.
- Create PDF: filename is required.
Tips
- Per-workflow History narrows the log to one workflow.
- Test with an in-app notification action to separate trigger/condition problems from action problems.
